In correlation with Judy Linn’s book, Patti Smith 1969-1976, published at the beginning of this month by Abrams Image, a solo exhibition of a selection of the prints has recently opened at Feature Inc. Gallery. The photographs display the early experimentation of Linn’s work, as she first started shooting Smith during her studies at Pratt Institute in 1968. The images display the artist’s idea of “model as muse”, as Smith certainly inspired Linn’s work for many years after their initial meeting.
Ms. Linn currently teaches at Vassar. Her pictures are at the Whitney, the Getty and the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts, among other institutions. “69-76″ will be open from March 16 – April 10, 2011.
